Wolseley Industrial hits One Out of the Park

The Wolseley Industrial team stepped up to the plate and hit a home run by helping build Canada’s largest baseball bat.

On August 16, the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Battleford, SK, unveiled Canada’s largest baseball bat that was created with HDPE pipe supplied by Wolseley’s Industrial division.

The gigantic bat measures just over 15 metres and weighs 1,500 kg, surpassing the current record holder located in Edmonton, AB that measures 14.9 metres.

Glen Cotton, Outside Sales at the Industrial branch in Saskatoon, SK, sold the 50’ x 16″ DR17 HDPE pipe that makes up the core of the bat, and the Fabrications team put together three 10″ DR11 pedestals that the steel pipe is welded to so the bat can proudly be displayed in front of the museum.

The project was started by Progressive Yard Works, a fibreglass manufacturing company in Saskatoon. They constructed the fibreglass, foam and putty around the pipe to make the bat.

Thank you to the Wolseley Industrial team for helping support this exciting project. You can now call yourselves hall of famers!
